From July 10 to July 26, 2014 the San Francisco Ballet will perform at the Théâtre du Châtelet as part of the Summer Dance Festival ('Les Étés de la Danse'). The dance company is directed by Helgi Tomasson, as they put on 18 wonderful performances throughout the month of July. This represents that second time that the San Francisco Ballet has performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet's Summer Dance Festival. The first time was during the very first edition of the festival in 2005.
During each performance, a different ballet will be performed, including 9 ballets that will have their French premieres. Choreographers such as Alexei Ratmansky, Liam Scarlett and Jerome Robbins will have their work performed during the festival. This summer, like every summer the Étés de la Danse offers both residents and visitors to Paris the chance to see some of the most talented dancers in the world.
Guests staying at one of the Grands Hôtels Parisiens should not miss the opportunity to see ballet in Paris, an interational hotspot for culture. The mission of the festival is to encourage those who have never seen ballet to catch a performance for the first time. With a location right in the center of the city, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in the 1st arrondissement, the venue to easily accessible to those in the city.
In 2013, 25,000 spectators enjoyed the Summer Dance Festival and the organizers expect just as much enthusiasm for this year's program. Prestigious dance companies such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and dancers such as Mikhail Baryshnikov have graced the stage during this festival, so audience members can expect an exceptionally high level of talent. Tickets for the shows can be purchased on the website of the Théâtre du Châtelet.
