Christmas has arrived at the Galeries Lafayette, and the newly decorated window displays are there to prove it. Until January 8, 2013, guests staying at one of the Grands Hôtels Parisiens can see these impressive displays at what is arguably the most beloved department store in France.
Tourists from around the world come to the Galeries Lafayette to browse through its impressive range of luxury beauty products and fashion labels, not to mention its awe-inspiring architecture. During the holidays, the store draws even more people who come to admire its window displays, decked out in Christmas decorations that usually revolve around a specific theme. This year, the theme is called 'The Ball of the Century,' and it was conceived by luxury goods designer Louis Vuitton.
The Louis Vuitton-designed displays show off a number of scenes incorporating parties, formal dances and other luxurious festivities. Whimsical in nature, these scenes capture both the fun and the extravagance of a Christmas in Paris.
In addition to visiting the window displays, shoppers should also take a look at the Swarovski Christmas tree that sits right in the middle of the Galeries Lafayette. Swarovski is famous for its top-quality crystals, and over 5,000 stars made of Swarovski crystals have been meticulously placed on a pine tree that is over 20 meters high -- an impressive feat!
To complete this visit to the Galeries Lafayette, visitors with children can have a chat with Santa Claus, who will be present during the store's opening hours up until December 24, 2013. Parents can snap pictures of their little ones with Santa at the Studio du Père Noël (Santa Claus Studio), located on the 5th floor of the Lafayette Coupole.
