From January 26 to November 13, 2016, the Quai Branly Museum invites you to step in a strange universe, mystical, and astonishing, that of Persona. The exhibition looks at the effects of people, ghosts and other personifications, on human objects.
The exhibition is focusing mainly on this fascinating relationship between human and non-human, when man gives life to an object consisting of inert material, or of the statuette on which the shaman attributed all the virtues of the gods.
With more than 200 objects, testimonies and works, the exhibition looks back on a strange phenomenon, Persona.
Guided by the science of anthropology, the exhibition explores the human relationship with the object, while he personifies it, and sometimes mistrusts it. Animated robots, sculptures, and even lint alongside us every day and make us feel a limit-presence, almost human presence intriguing and sometimes disturbing. We begin to talk to them, waiting for a response from them, but we forget that we are alone in our house.
