Paris, the home of gastronomic delights

Paris is known the world over as arguably the global centre of gastronomy, and for good reason. Fine dining here is an art form which can be experienced in some of the most delightful eating environments and ambiences to be found anywhere in the world. When in the capital, try to hit some of the widely acknowledged top ten restaurants… Le Meurice, at the Hotel Meurice, for instance, has to be one of the most glamorous dining experiences imaginable. Overlooking the Tuileries Gardens and boasting crystal chandeliers and stunning mosaic flooring, Le Meurice offers 3 Michelin star cuisine without a hint of pretentiousness. Much of the produce is sourced locally and the menu changes regularly to allow Chef Yannick Alleno to really showcase his talents. For something a little bit different, Yam’Tcha serves up delicious and imaginative tasting menus with a distinctly Asian flavor. Run by one of Paris’ few female chefs, Adeline Grattard, the food is highly influenced by chef’s stint in Hong Kong. Yam’Tcha is located near Les Halles in the 1st arrondissement and its old stone walls and wonderful beamed ceilings provide a great oldy worldy eating ambience. For French classics, try heading to Le Stella, one of Paris’ last independent brasseries in the 16th arrondissement which serves up such fare as steak tartare, onion soup, and escargots beyond compare. If you want to experience real French traditional cuisine in a similarly traditional French atmosphere, this is the place for you. On your gastronomic tour of Paris, why not indulge yourself further with a stay at one of Les Grands Hotels Parisiens where luxury is surprisingly affordable.
