Paris is a generous city for its dwellers and visitors. Each year, as Winter settles in, the city seeks to console those who cannot get away from work to go on a snowy retreat. If you do not come to the snow, then the snow shall come to you!
From November to March, three gigantic ice rings are set up around Paris: one in front of the Hotel de Ville, one at the Stade Charléty south of the city, and one… on the first floor of the Eiffel tower, in front of our Hotel Plaza Tour Eiffel of course! This makes for an unforgettable experience for those visiting the city, or for a renewed excuse to climb the Eiffel tower for the seventeenth time! Once you have waited in a cold line and paid the entrance for either the lift or the vertiginous stairs, you are free to ice-skate to your heart’s desire (the skates are lent to you free of charge).
If you would rather opt for an ice-skating experience closer to sea level - and closer to our Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal, the Hotel de Ville square is a perfect option. There, entrance is free but you have to rent the skates before you can start swirling and spinning below the gothic façade of the Paris town hall. And if the cold starts biting too hard, take refuge inside the Hotel de Ville, where a fascinating exhibition of Doisneau photographs awaits.
