From December,12,2015 to February, 6, 2016, the Thomas Bernard Gallery will be host to the major exhibition Music for the eyes, by the German artist Rolf Julius.
The project was originally the idea of Rolf Julius, a German artist who focused on the musical world in his artistic realizations. Audio installations, drawings and sculptures: you just need to let yourselves go by the “art of sounds” made by Julius in the very heart of Paris.
The exhibition Music for the eyes will put on display the work of the German artist Rolf Julius in the halls of the gallery Thomas Bernard. Artistic installations, sculptures and drawings have one thing in common: a musical background that rocked the artist's realizations over the years.
Through his work, Rolf Julius wanted to explore the different broadcasting techniques that fascinated him. The artistic works displayed on the exhibition are often made up of the same material: speakers, amplifiers, MP3 players, stones and water; and of course, garmented with audio realizations he recorded himself beforehand. Among the exhibited collections, you’ll discover “Cloud”, realized in 2007, which features twenty speakers suspended in the void, and “Large Stonegarden”, square carpets of various stones in the middle of which stands the musical material. The artist insisted on the fact that his work combines sound and nature, so that music can immerse in the body of the viewer.
