Jean Francis Auburtin isn’t as famous as some of his contemporaries, such as Monet, but there is no doubt that he tried to emulate and learn from them over his lifetime. He followed in the footsteps of Monet, painting the landscapes around Belle-Île and Étretat to Pourville, Varengeville and Provence to get a better idea of the subject and approaches of his peer. This Spring the musée des impressionnismes Giverny hosts a retrospective that places Auburtin and Monet side by side. It is a chance for art lovers to compare the works and see the importance of both artists.
This Monet – Auburtin exhibition is part of the gallery’s 10th anniversary celebrations, and there is no better way to celebrate than bringing the best works of these two major artists together.
The show begins on March 22nd and continues right through until July 14th. Don’t miss out on this brilliant learning experience.
