Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection

Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection

Until February 20, 2017, the Fondation Louis Vuitton will be putting on display a very unique and special exhibition that sheds light on one of the most impressive private collections of modern art, the collection of the famous Russian art collector Sergei Shchukin (1854 – 1936).

Entitled “Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection”, the exhibition is actually considered one of the most interesting events of the official programme of the France-Russia Year of Cultural Tourism 2016-2017.

It is organized in collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and presents more than 130 amazing artworks. Most of them are created by well-renowned artists such as Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, and Pablo Picasso.

The exhibition “Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection” is curated by Anne Baldassari.
