On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dior, the Galerie des Galeries cultural space of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann Paris is putting on exhibition an exclusive collection of twelve navy blue outfits designed by the legendary French fashion designer Christian Dior.
Being synonymous with elegance and sophistication, Navy blue has always been one of the French couturier’s most-liked and favored colors so that he praised it on more than one occasion and qualified it as “the only [color] that can compete with black”.
The collection which comes from the archives of the eponymous fashion house features fascinating original pieces that unveil the refined style and taste of the couturier. It contains wonderful creations like the Billet Doux blue silk dress and the Doris wool coat—one of the finest outfits that were created by Christian Dior himself for his first New Look collection.
