From July 19 to July 22, 2012, the square in front of Hotel de Ville will serve as the location of a series of free outdoor concerts. These concerts are presented by Fnac, as part of an annual tradition that began last year, attracting tens of thousands of Parisians. The aim is to brings its favorite artists and new discoveries to the public.
Last year, more than 60,000 people came to Hotel de Ville to see these concerts, which included breakthrough artists like Selah Sue. This year, the event — called Fnac Live — will present 24 free concerts presenting artists of all genres, like rock, electro and hip hop. Notable guests include Charlie Winston, Pony Pony Run Run and Rover. Depending on the day, the concerts will begin between 5:30 and 6 p.m. and end around 10 or 11 p.m. Every night will showcase six or seven amazing musicians for both spectators and passersby to enjoy.
The goal of Fnac Live is to honor live music while at the same time giving the public the chance to discover musicians that they might never have heard before. This year, Fnac Live is presenting a more international mix of artists and a more diverse selection of genres. After the concerts, late-night spectators can dance to the sounds of electro music.
This is the perfect occassion to relax with friends on a beautiful summer night. Plus, visitors can see one of the most popular Parisian landmarks — Hotel de Ville — like they have never seen it before. With its location right next to Notre Dame, the night can be spent meandering between these two monuments, or along the Seine, all while hearing the latest musical discoveries of the French music scene. Guests staying at one of the Grands Hotels Parisiens can enjoy this nightly series of concerts until Sunday evening.
