Berthe Morisot is a name that doesn’t immediately come to mind for many art fans. This shouldn’t be the case because her work was on par with the talent of other artists in her era. When viewers look at her work with no attribution they could be forgiven for thinking they were looking at something from Renoir or Degas. There are similarities in talent and stylistic choices. Yet, those male counterparts get all the glory and Morisot is overlooked. The good news is that this is all about to change thanks to a new exhibit at the Musee d’Orsay. This new show highlights some of the best work of this female Impressionist pioneer to put her back in her rightful place.
The Museum currently has 60 pieces from Morisot’s collection on show for visitors to see. It is a great chance to get to know this artist and her subjects a little better. The show continues through the summer until the 22nd of September. Don’t allow her to be forgotten again.
