The Christmas Market of Saint-Germain-des-Prés is coming to town on December 2, 2013 and visitors to Paris should make sure to get a glimpse of the quaint holiday wares being shown off in the 6th arrondissement this winter. The market will be around until January 2, 2014, so guests staying at one of the Grands Hôtels Parisiens can stop by during their holiday stay in Paris.
The Saint-Germain neighborhood is known for its warm environment and mix of luxury and student cultures, making it an interesting place to take a stroll. Now, there are even more reasons to see the area as its Christmas market makes its debut next week. Last year, the Christmas Market of Saint-Germain-des-Prés was ranked as the most charming Christmas market in the City of Light by the French periodical Le Parisien. As such, visitors can expect 30 chalets lined up along the sidewalk offering everything from Christmas decorations to tasty French food specialties.
On the weekends, Santa Claus will make an appearance, allowing children to get pictures taken with him in his chalet. This makes the Saint-Germain-des-Près market a great event for all ages. Over the course of the event, 100 gifts will be given away to the lucky winners of the prize drawings held for the occasion.
Visitors who cannot get enough of Christmas markets may also want to check out the markets at the Champs-Elysées, Trocadero Square and Montparnasse. In fact, Christmas markets are all over the city during the holiday season, each with their own special atmosphere and activities. Therefore, those in search of Christmas cheer should not hesitate to seek out these markets during their trips to Paris.
